How GST is Calculated
The GST calculator uses the standard tax formulas to either add GST on top of a base price or extract the GST component from a tax-inclusive amount.
Add GST Formula
GST = Amount × (Rate / 100)
Total = Amount + GST
Entered Amount
₹10,000.00
GST Rate
18%
Base Amount
₹10,000.00
GST Amount
₹1,800.00
Total Amount
₹11,800.00
Where: Amount is the tax-exclusive base price, and Rate is the applicable GST slab. The GST amount is added on top of the base price to get the total invoice value.

Worked Example
Suppose you have a base price of ₹10,000.00 and GST is charged at 18%.
The GST amount works out to ₹1,800.00, which is added to your base price.
This brings your total invoice value to approximately ₹11,800.00.
A few things worth knowing about GST:
GST replaces multiple older indirect taxes with a single tax applied at every stage of the supply chain.
For sales within the same state, GST is split equally between CGST and SGST.
Different goods and services fall under different GST slabs, so always confirm the applicable rate for your category.
CGST & SGST Split
For intra-state transactions, GST is split equally between Central GST (CGST) and State GST (SGST).
Intra-State Tax Split
CGST (50%)
₹900.00
SGST (50%)
₹900.00
Total GST
₹1,800.00
This split applies to intra-state transactions, where GST is shared equally between the central and state governments as CGST and SGST. For inter-state transactions, the full amount is instead charged as a single Integrated GST (IGST).
