How Your Monthly Deposits Add Up
Unlike a single lump sum, an RD's balance climbs in monthly steps — this chart shows deposits and compounding interest building together.
How RD Maturity is Calculated
Unlike a lump-sum deposit, an RD adds a new installment every month, and each one starts earning interest from the day it lands — the calculator simulates this month-by-month with quarterly compounding, the way Indian banks do it.
RD Maturity Formula
A = P × (1 + R/N)Nt
Monthly Instalment (P)
₹5,000.00
Interest Rate (R)
7%
Tenure (t)
5 Years
Compounding (N)
Quarterly
Invested Amount
₹3,00,000.00
Maturity Amount (A)
₹3,59,663.95
Where: A is the maturity amount, P is your fixed monthly instalment, R is the annual interest rate, N is the compounding frequency (number of quarters in a year, i.e. 4), and t is the tenure in years. Each instalment compounds quarterly for the remaining period until maturity, and the maturity value is the sum of all these compounded instalments — matching how most Indian banks calculate RD interest.

Worked Example
Suppose you deposit ₹5,000.00 every month for 5 years at an annual interest rate of 7%, compounded quarterly.
Over this period, you would deposit a total of ₹3,00,000.00, and earn total interest of ₹59,663.95.
Based on these values, your RD will mature to approximately ₹3,59,663.95.
A few things worth knowing about Recurring Deposits:
Each monthly deposit starts earning interest from the point it's made, so earlier deposits earn interest for longer.
Your interest rate is locked in for the entire tenure, regardless of market or economic conditions.
A longer tenure means more monthly deposits and more time for compounding, increasing your total interest earned.
